Additionally, the President commemorated the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, vowing to maintain its global dominance by removing "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" initiatives and restoring those dismissed for refusing COVID vaccines. These actions underscore the President's focus on traditional American values, national security, and military strength.
On Truth Social, Trump addressed several pressing issues. He claimed Iran missed a deadline he set and may have a second chance to make a deal. He also cited an Appeals Court ruling as justification for using the National Guard to maintain order, specifically mentioning his previous claim of saving Los Angeles from destruction. Furthermore, Trump reiterated his threats to Iran, asserting U.S. and Israeli military superiority and urging them to negotiate to prevent further conflict.
Government departments issued numerous tweets, with many focusing on current events. The State Dept retweeted a statement about Iran's nuclear program, Israel's right to self-defense, and Marco Rubio's statement regarding Israel's unilateral action against Iran. The DOD highlighted Marines guarding federal property in Los Angeles and its role in quelling violence and the Army's birthday. HHS highlighted resources for coping with grief, the NIH podcast, and @DrOzCMS's work with healthcare IT. HHS Secretary Kennedy accused the NY Times of hypocrisy regarding conflicts of interest, and strategized with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon about sports and nutrition, and had breakfast with SecRollins and farmer Bob Quinn about nutrition. DOGE mentioned that agencies terminated 90 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.5B and savings of $200M. The Commerce Department commented on NOAA Research's tweet about weather warning tool testing, and Commerce Secretary Lutnick promoted TrumpCard.gov.
Several 2028 Democratic presidential candidates posted on Twitter. Gavin Newsom demanded Trump relinquish authority over the National Guard back to California, expressed concern about sharing Medicaid recipient data with DHS, and responded to Trump regarding farmers. Josh Shapiro advocated for healthcare access in rural Pennsylvania, proclaimed that Pennsylvania will "outcompete China," highlighting Amazon's $20 billion investment as a way "the future of AI is going to run through PA," and addressed the shortage of healthcare professionals in rural communities. Gretchen Whitmer promoted expanded pre-K access in Michigan, advocated for building a semiconductor fab, and highlighted the two-year anniversary of the CROWN Act, saying "your crown is yours and yours only." Wes Moore released a statement regarding Maryland protests, and said that housing in Maryland is too expensive. JB Pritzker addressed accusations of corruption by referencing a Hitler quote used by "Mary" and stated "Always great to see and stand up for democracy" with @GovKathyHochul and @GovTimWalz.
Congress was busy on June 12, 2025, with both the Senate and House taking action on various legislative matters. The Senate passed the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act, condemned antisemitism in Boulder, and advanced the Genius Act concerning payment stablecoins, while also confirming William Long as Commissioner of Internal Revenue. In the House, the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of Fentanyl Act and the Rescissions Act of 2025 were passed, along with the District of Columbia Federal Immigration Compliance Act. Both chambers held numerous committee meetings covering topics from defense appropriations to cybersecurity and international affairs.

Flag Day and National Flag Week, 2025
President Trump issued a proclamation declaring June 14, 2025, as Flag Day and the week starting June 8, 2025, as National Flag Week. The proclamation commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag on June 14, 1777. He stated, "This Flag Day and National Flag Week, we pause to revere the star-spangled emblem of our freedom — and we honor the nearly 250 years of valor, sacrifice, and patriotism it has gloriously inspired."
The President directs the display of the flag on all Federal Government buildings during this week and encourages all Americans to observe Flag Day and National Flag Week by displaying the flag. Regarding the Proposed Acquisition of the United States Steel Corporation by Nippon Steel Corporation
President Trump issued an order regarding the proposed acquisition of United States Steel Corporation by Nippon Steel Corporation, citing authority vested in him by the Constitution and the Defense Production Act of 1950. The order references a prior order by then-President Biden on January 3, 2025, which prohibited the transaction.
The President affirmed findings that the Purchasers "might take action that threatens to impair the national security of the United States" and that other laws are inadequate to protect national security in this matter. However, he finds that this impairment can be mitigated if the conditions in Section 3 of the order are met. Section 2(a) of the January 3 Order is amended to prohibit the transaction unless Nippon Steel and U.S. Steel execute and comply with a national security agreement (NSA) with the Department of the Treasury. The Secretary of the Treasury is directed to transmit a copy of the order to the parties involved.

250th Anniversary of the Founding of the United States Army
President Trump issued a proclamation commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, founded on June 14, 1775. It recounts the events leading to the Army's formation, from the battles of Lexington and Concord to the Continental Congress's resolution to establish the Continental Army.
Trump states his administration is ensuring the Army's legacy by purging the "sinister ideology of 'Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion'" and reinstating service members dismissed for refusing the COVID vaccine. He claims his foreign policy is resulting in military recruitment soaring to historic highs. He vows that the US military will remain the mightiest in the world. He proclaims June 14, 2025, as a day in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States Army.

What They Are Saying: President Trump Stops Radical Environmentalism to Generate Power for the Columbia River Basin
President Trump revoked the Biden Administration’s “Restoring Healthy and Abundant Salmon, Steelhead, and Other Native Fish Populations in the Columbia River Basin” Memorandum, which the administration claims "would have eliminated secure and reliable energy sources." Officials such as Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum stated, "Now is not the time to shut down American energy. Instead, we’re keeping the lights on, costs low, and putting the American people first."
Various Senators, Representatives, and industry leaders also voiced support. Senator Crapo stated the "flawed initiative ignored congressional authority over the dams." Senator Daines said Biden's memorandum was an "attempt to breach the dams and appease radical environmentalist groups." Industry leaders from the National Grain and Feed Association and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association also praised the decision for preserving affordable energy and critical infrastructure for transporting goods.
